DISCOVER THE POWER OF ART TO DEVELOP KEY SKILLS IN LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND LITERATURE
INSPIRED ENGLISH (YEARS 7 – 10)
Morning session: 9.15am – 12.15pm
Each year thousands of secondary school students of English take part in inquiry-based workshops run by Educators at the National Gallery of Victoria. These sessions focus on art from different times and cultures as inspiration for teaching and learning in the English curriculum. Participants in this workshop will explore the ideas and practice involved in this approach and how the unique pedagogy developed in the Gallery can be translated into practical classroom activities and lessons for students from Years 7–12. The Inspired English series of books for teachers and students of English will also be introduced.
These books feature activities and lesson plans focusing on major NGV works of art.
